The American Revolution and Native Americans
The American Revolution for Native Americans was a matter of choosing between two evils. For Native Americans, the plight of the colonists or the sovgernity of King of England was more or less the same. Both were the same they want their land and want to make their ancestral land their own depriving them their right to live on the land that their forefathers had lived for generations. For most tribes, they have to choose what seems to be the the lesser evil,. Britain seems to offer a better option by promising the Indians protection from a new expansion of the colonies. For Native Americans, the United States was more dangerous because the newly independent nation has no place for the indigenous people of the land. Declaration of independence by the revolutionary leaders or the founding fathers of the USA has no place for any other race except the white colonists. It does not include American Indians or the black slaves that even the founding fathers own.
Most nations of the Native Americans decided to side with Britain which at least promised to protect their land. When the Brtish negotiated the end of the war with the United States it gave away land which included that it promised to protect. The Native Americans, of course, were not part of the negotiation or the trinity whatsoever and ended up losing all their land and identity to the United States which considered them an enemy of the revolution. All their land was taken by the new country. Previously westward expansion of colonies checked by Britain no longer was respected by the newly independent USA. The proud Native Americans nations and tribs gradually lost whatever they had and now have to live in reservations as endangered specious which in a way that they truly are. Even though the United States almost destroyed the Native American nations and tribs at least some names of these great proud nations are preserved as names of the USA war machines.
