US Election 2020
On November 3, 2020, Americans will vote to elect a president
to lead the United State of America for the next four years. It is the most important election in modern times and it seems Americans know it. They
have turned out in numbers to cast their ballots in early voting and turn out
for election day is expected to be big too. Voters have two major choices (don’t
forget that there are other candidates on the blot), the incumbent President Donald
Trump or the challenger former Vice President Joe Biden. Both candidates are in
their 70s but they stand for different eras. Donald Trump wants to Make
America Great Again and Joe Biden wants to see the country to become better
than what it had been. Better for everyone including people which America
never had been great for them.
Whoever America chooses the United Stated will not be the same
again. If Donald Trump is elected for the second term despite the polls
predicting a Joe Biden win. America and the world will witness again that US polls
don’t work or people who participate in polls don’t tell exactly who they will
elect. The president’s reelection despite a large coalition of anti Trumpers
working against him will show that America is not ready yet to be a thriving multi-racial
and diverse democracy where social justice and economic prosperity are possible for
all. It will further disfranchise the young and people of color from
conventional institutional politics instead it will lead to a radical revolutionary
tendency that can disrupt the democratic institutions of the country. This
will give the perfect excuse for Donald Trump who shows autocratic tendencies
to undermine US democracy further.
If Joe Biden is elected as president it may lead again to a
group of people who will feel that the US federal government and liberal politicians
are destroying the way of life of true-blue-blooded Americans. This may lead to resistance
to the government. It also my lead for some groups to choose violence against
the government and people they consider are not real Americans. A rise of violent
hate groups is highly likely if Donald Trump is defatted on November 3. On the
other hand, Joe Biden's election will give America a chance to get things right by
embracing that Americans are more diverse than they have ever been in the
history of the United States. It will give the country a moment to reevaluate
its values as a nation.
We will all see what Americans choose on November 3 and how America and the world react to the choice.
